New Delhi. This year, the government has blocked the 18 OTT platform serving pornographic content. India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting found that pornographic content is being given pornographic and pornographic content in some cases, which are against Indian law. In the same sequence, 19 websites, 10 mobile apps (7 of these Google Play Store and 3 apps are present on the app store) and 57 social media accounts related to them have also been banned.
Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, while announcing this action, emphasized that the content creator cannot use 'creative expression' as an excuse to promote derogatory materials. This action was taken under the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000, in which inputs were taken from other ministries/departments of the Government of India and domain experts expertly specializing in media and entertainment, women's rights and child rights.

Why are these 18 OTT platforms blocked?
The ministry found that the content hosted on these platforms is highly porn, derogatory for women and completely obscene in many cases. The films being seen on these platforms also included improper depiction of relationships, such as adultery in student-teacher relations and family relations. Explain that such content violates many laws, such as sections 67 and 67 of the IT Act, Section 292 of IPC, Section 4 of the Pornographic Dictionary (Prohibition) Act, 1986 of women.

Some apps included in the list of blocks are also involved, which have gained a lot of popularity. One of them has more than 1 crore downloads and two, which have 50 lakh downloads. All these OTT platforms used to share their trailer and links on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X (East) to attract their app. He also had more than 32 lakh followers on social media accounts.
Although the government always encourages the development of OTT industry, but with it it also emphasizes that platforms should always see responsible content. This action has been taken to maintain moral standards in the digital entertainment field.
