It demanded a ban on extradition of India. It has now been requested that the new application be presented before Chief Justice Roberts.
Got a shock before
Earlier this month, Justice Elena Kagan rejected the application of Tehwwur Rana, demanding a ban on extradition of India. Rana had argued in his application that for many reasons he will not live long to face the trial in India.
What was the last trick
Rana said through an appeal, “If there is no restriction, there will be no review and the US courts will lose jurisdiction and the petitioner will die soon.” The accused of the 26/11 terror attacks claimed that if he is extradited to India, he is a strong possibility of atrocities with him being a Muslim of Pakistani origin.
Who is Rana?
Tahwwur Rana is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. He is born in Pakistan. He is a doctor by profession. He has served a doctor in the Pakistani army. He is said to be close to David Headley, the master mind of the Mumbai attack. It is also said that Rana had financed for the orgy of death in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. However, when the US court acquitted Rana after arresting Rana in 2009, India proved him to blame against diplomatic moves and the US continued to talk about his extradition. Rana filed a petition in the US Supreme Court on 13 November. However, it was rejected by the apex court on 21 January, a day after Donald Trump was sworn in as US President.
