Bengaluru Two days after the deadly stampede that took place outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the police arrested four people in connection with the case. According to police sources, the four arrested people include Nikhil Sosh of RCB management and Sunil Matthew of Event Management Company DNA. When Nikhil Sosh, a top marketing officer of RCB, was arrested, he was going towards the Kimpe Gowda International Airport.
The police on Thursday registered a case against RCB, event management company DNA and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) administration in a stampede case. Police said that KSCA officials are currently absconding. Based on the FIR, arrests have been made under various sections of BNS, including culpable homicide, serious injury, illegal gathering and endangering human life with negligence or negligence.
The Karnataka government had told the High Court on 5 June that the investigation into the stampede in front of the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in which 11 people were killed. A special investigation team (SIT) will be formed under CID to ensure intensive and independent investigation. The government submitted a status report to the court, which confirmed that an FIR (crime number 123/2025) was lodged at the Kabban Park Police Station under several sections of the Code of India Code, including sections 105, 125 (1) (2), 132, 121/1 and 3 (5) read with sections 190.
Why did a stampede? Magistrate investigation to know
The report said that a separate magistrate investigation has also been initiated to detect the cause of the stampede and identify any administrative or organizational omission. The report said that the investigation will be led by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Bangalore city and it should be completed within 15 days.
1380 policemen were deployed
The status report states that a huge crowd of more than 2.5 lakh people had gathered around the stadium. It said that keeping in mind the victory of RCB, a total of 1,380 personnel including senior officials and constables were deployed by the police of Bangalore city to ensure security and arrangements. It states that in addition to this, 13 KSRP units (25 personnel in each) were deployed to maintain law and order.
