New Delhi. South African wicketkeeper batsman Henrik Klassen on Monday announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Klassen announced this on social media. Klassen had earlier said goodbye to Test cricket last year. At this time, he was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He has not retired from franchise cricket. He will continue to play league cricket. Klassen used to play only ODI and T20 International cricket for South Africa. Cricket South Africa did not give him a Salna contract. He was not one of the unabashed players of the board. Classen made his ODI and T20 International cricket debut against India. Australian all -rounder Glenn Maxvel also announced retirement from ODI cricket today.

Heinrich Klasen wrote on his social media Instagram page, 'This is a sad day for me. Because I declare that I have decided to quit international cricket. It took me a long time to decide what would be best for me and my family in the future. This was really a very difficult decision, but at the same time I am completely satisfied with it. From the very first day, it was the greatest honor for me to represent my country. And this was everything for which I worked as a young player and about which I dreamed.

Klassen further wrote, 'I have created very good friendship and relationships which I will cherish throughout my life. Playing for the protigned team gave me a chance to meet the great people who changed my life. And I have less than you thank those people. My journey to wearing South Africa jersey was different from the rest. There were some coaches in my career who maintained faith in me. I will always be grateful to them.

33 -year -old Henrich Klassen announced his retirement from Test cricket to focus on the limited overs. Overall, Klassen played 60 ODIs, 58 T20s and four Tests for South Africa.
