India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has launched the updated hybrid version of its popular bike FZ-S FI. The company says it is the first hybrid bike in India.
Yamaha has introduced it in a single variant and has priced it at Rs 1,44,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is based on Standard FZ-S FI, priced at Rs 10,000 less than the hybrid version.
In the Indian market, it will compete with other 150cc bikes like TVS Apache RTR 160, Suzuki Gixxer, Honda SP160 and Bajaj Pulsar N150.
50-55kmpl mileage can be found The most special in the bike is its integrated starter generator (ISG), which has been used in a bike for the first time in India. Yamaha earlier introduced this technique in its Rayzr and Fasino hybrid scooters.
ISG works with a smart motor generator (SMG), which charges the battery and boosts torque for fast speed. It is particularly useful in stop-end traffic conditions and overtaking.
This system starts silent and improves mileage. The standard model of the bike gives a mileage of 40-45kmpl in real world conditions.
According to media reports, the bike can give a mileage of 50-55kmpl. The hybrid models of RayzR and Fasino give mileage up to 71kmpl. However, the company has not explained any official data on the mileage of the bike.
Performance: 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine The FZ-S FI Hybrid has a 149cc 4-stroke, 2-valve, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine for performance, which is equipped with Yamaha’s smart motor generator (SMG) and Stop and Start System (SSS).
This engine generates power of 12.4hp at 7250rpm and 13.3Nm torque at 5500rpm. The company has not shared increased power and torque figures with hybrid systems.
The engine is tuned with a 5 -speed gearbox for transmission. This engine has been updated for E20 fuel and according to the new OBD-2B Emission Norms.
Design: Muscular look with two color options The design of FZ-SFI hybrid is similar to its standard model, but some cosmetic changes have been made. Its fuel tank cover has now given sharp edge. The front turn signal has been installed near the Air Intake area in the fuel tank cover extensions. The bike is seen as a muscular look as before. FZ-S FI Hybrid is available in two color options- racing blue and cyan metallic gray.
Hardware: Front with single-channel ABS and rear disc brake For comfort riding, 27 step adjustable telescopic forks in the front of the bike and monoshock exorcover in the rear. At the same time, there are 282mm in front with single-channel ABS for braking and 220mm disc brakes in the rear. It has 17-inch alloy wheels on both sides, as well as 100-section front and 140-section rear tires, both are tubeless. The height of the bike seat is 790mm, ground clearance 165mm, 13 liter fuel tank and 138kg karb weight.
Features: Turn-by-turn navigation, call and sms alert The FZ -S FI Hybrid has a 4.2 -inch full -collore TFT instrument cluster. In this display, the feature of Bluetooth smartphone connectivity is available through the Y-Connect app. The app includes features such as turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts associated with Google Maps. Apart from this, features like All-LED lighting, side stand engine cut-off and traction control are also available in the bike.
