Mumbai. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on Monday formally announced the exit of India from the Women's Asian Cup. AFC also said that due to many cases of Corona infection, all the matches will be canceled after withdrawing the names of the Indian team from the match against Chinese Taipei. The Indian team was not in a position to take off the entire team against Chinese Taipei as its 12 players are in the grip of Corona infection.

AFC said, “After the cancellation of Group-A of the Women's Asian Cup 2022 between Chinese Taipei and India, according to Section 4.1 of the special rules applicable on AFC competitions between Korona epidemic, it will be believed that India has withdrawn the name from the tournament.”

It said, 'All matches in India will now be considered canceled.' It also said that India's only match against Iran will no longer be counted while preparing the final table of the group. India was with China, Chinese Taipei and Iran in Group A. Now only three teams will be considered in this group.
The statement said, “To avoid the possibility of any bias in the final comparison between all the third-place teams, the first, second and third place teams will not be counted against the fourth place team.”
