Sourav Ganguly broke the silence on the rumors of the IPL final venue shifting.
New Delhi. Sourav Ganguly hopes that the IPL final will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Ganguly, former captain of Team India, said that the Bengal Cricket Association has 'very good' relations with the Indian Cricket Board of India. Therefore, he is confident that the Eden Gardens will host the IPL final. The BCCI suspended the IPL for a week due to the military conflict between India and Pakistan. Its final was to be played in Kolkata on 25 May, but the board has not given information about the venue of the final to be played on June 3 in the revised program.
When Sourav Ganguly was asked if Kolkata would host the final match as per the original program, the BCCI and the former CAB president said, 'We are trying. Is it so easy to transfer the final? This is the playoff of Eden, and I am sure everything will be alright. I hope.' The class of fans protested outside the prestigious site on Friday and demanded that the IPL final be held in Kolkata itself.
The highest 69 wickets in 1 season, Kavya Maran also became Lattu, who is going to enter the Indian team for England tour
Ganguly said during the final of 'All India Invitation Inter-School Regata' in Kolkata, 'Protests do not get any special help. BCCI has a very good relationship with Bengal Cricket Association. On the delay in fixing the playoff sites, Ganguly said, “Kolkata Knight Riders have finished their league matches on this ground, so Eden is not in the first list.” The Eden Gardens had the right to host the final of this session due to winning the title of Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 season. The site also hosted the inaugural match of the current season. According to the IPL original program, Eden Gardens had to host the final on May 23 and the final on May 25.
The BCCI, however, has kept silence about the new site for the final. Due to which speculation has been further strengthened. The reason behind this proposed change is the weather forecast, because the time in this city starts the southwest monsoon. Test cricket in India recently suffered a double shock when captain Rohit Sharma and veteran batsman Virat Kohli retired from the traditional format of the game. Ganguly expressed surprise on Kohli's decision, and congratulated both the players for his brilliant career.
Ganguly said, 'This is his own decision. Can anyone leave the game without their desire? But this has been a great career and the same thing applies to Rohit Sharma. Kohli's retirement has shocked me. Rohit first said goodbye to the red ball career and after a few days Kohli also did the same, which led to a big emptiness in the team. Ganguly advised the selectors to take precautions in the selection of the next captain of the team, saying, 'This is a decision on which the selectors should consider carefully. It has many advantages and disadvantages. They have to think about a long time.
