New Delhi. Punjab Kings fast bowler Lockie Ferguson may be out of the remaining season of IPL 2025. Before the PBKS match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday, the team's fast bowling coach James Hops said that the New Zealand fast bowler has suffered a 'very serious injury' and the possibility of coming back before the end of his season is 'very little'.

Ferguson suffered this injury during the second innings of the match played against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday. He stopped the bowling only after the second ball of his spell and appeared holding the place of his left foot hamstring. He went out of the field with the team's physio and then did not return to bowl. After this, SRH achieved a record target of 246 runs by eight wickets.

The coach said, “Ferguson is out indefinitely, and the possibility of his tournament coming back to the end is very little. I think he has suffered a very serious injury.” Ferguson's season was going well, he took five wickets in four matches at an average of 20.80 and an economy rate of 9.17.

Talking further, Hops explained the reason for the defeat against SRH to PBKS's fielding mistakes. He said, “He (the previous match) was a bit disappointing for us. We knew that it was going to be a very high-scoring game. We knew that it is a high-scoring wicket. We scored a great score on the board, but unfortunately, our incompetence of not catching the catch that night removed the match.”
