New Delhi. In the world of music apps, an app is making a strong explosion. It has overtaken Netflix and Amazon in the case of subscribers. The name of this app is 'Spotify'. This app has gained tremendous popularity in the last few months. Its users say that both the quality and collection of songs in it are excellent. Spotify said on Tuesday that its premium subscriber base has increased by 5 million in the first quarter, which shows an increase of 12% year-on-year.
With this, the total subscriber number has increased to 268 million, which is the second largest number of so far and the highest paid subscriber in the first quarter since 2020. Spotify also reported a record-high-quarter operating income € 509 million (about $ 528 million). However, it was less than the company's guidance of € 548 million ($ 625 million). The total revenue increased from 15% to € 4.2 billion ($ 4.8 billion) from year to year.
Monthly active user
Apart from this, music-streaming giants now have a total of 678 million monthly active users (MAUS) and 423 million advertising MAS. These figures came after the company's milestone in the last quarter, when it recorded an operational income of € 477 million ($ 509.48 million).
The Spotify remains a top player in the music-streaming industry and has successfully left back the competitors such as Apple Music and Amazon Music. Apart from this, the company is also competing with YouTube in video podcast and now there are 330,000 shows on the platform. The special thing is that the recently launched Spotify Partner Program has paid more than $ 100 million to podcast creators in the first quarter. Recently, Spotify has launched its AI playlist service in more than 40 markets, including Bahamas, Fiji, Ghana, Jamaica, Kenya, Singapore and other countries.
