New Delhi. There is news of great relief for railway passengers. Indian Railways has now started the facility of online ticket cancellation for tickets purchased from the railway counter. Announcing this initiative, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that now passengers will not need to go to the station to cancel their tickets. This step will save the time and hard work of millions of train passengers across the country.

Minister Vaishnav said that the passengers will be very comfortable with this facility. Earlier, one had to go to the station to cancel the counter ticket, but now this work will be done at home. For online cancellation, passengers will have to use the IRCTC website or mobile app. For this, the PNR number of the ticket and other necessary information will have to be recorded. After cancellation, the process of refund will also be completed online. This new facility will save both the time and hard work of the passengers.

How to cancel offline tick online
On Friday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that passengers who buy physical tickets from the ticket counter can now cancel them online by calling the IRCTC website or 139. However, to get the refund, they still have to go to the reservation center. This issue was raised by BJP MP Medha Vishram Kulkarni. He had asked whether passengers with waiting tickets purchased from the counter, instead of e-tickets, need to cancel their tickets before the train disclosure.

He said that under normal circumstances, the PRS counter ticket can be canceled online within the stipulated time limit by calling the IRCTC website or 139. As mentioned in railway passengers (ticket cancellation and rented return) Rules 2015. To get the refund, the original PRS counter tickets have to be submitted to the reservation counter, as earlier.

Counter Tikat Cancellation Niyam
– Online cancellation is valid only when a valid mobile number is given at the time of booking.
– Cancellation and refund of PRS counter tickets is valid in normal conditions, but not in case of delay or cancellation of train.
– Online cancellation for fully confirmed tickets can be done up to 4 hours before departure.
– Online cancellation for RAC/Weightlisted tickets can be done till 30 minutes before departure.
– Refund collection rules will be according to the rules mentioned above.
– Passenger information (name, age, gender, booking status, current situation) and travel information will be shown on the website.
Once the passenger confirms, the entire cancellation of PNR will be done and the system will be marked as “canceled butt not refunded”. The seat/berth will be released and the amount of refund will be shown on the website.
– Privilege/Duty Pass/PTO/Complimentary pass tickets can be canceled online. People who are nearby, Doba will have to go to the counter for recognition if necessary.
– General cancellation fees will be applicable on PTO tickets issued on 1/3 part of total basic fare. Since the cancellation fees can exceed the ticket price, travelers can choose whether to cancel the PTO ticket online or not.
