Apart from this, a demerit point has also been added to Maxwell's disciplinary records. The BCCI said in a statement on Tuesday night, “All -rounder of Punjab Kings accepted Level 1 crime under Article 2.2 (misuse of Fixty and Fitings) and accepted the match referee's decision.”

Why was Maxwell punished?
Maxwell was found guilty under Article 2.2 of the IPL code of conduct, including rules for players and team officials. “Article 2.2 includes any action outside general cricket activities, such as killing or kicking wickets and any action that intentionally, carelessly or accidentally damages the advertising board, boundary fence, dressing room doors, glass, windows and other fixtures and fittings.”

Even though Maxwell did not contribute with the bat, he continued to take wickets with his spin bowling. He took an important wicket of CSK opener Rachin Ravindra, who scored 36 runs from 23 balls and hit six fours. Batting first, Punjab scored a huge score of 219 runs for 6 wickets on the strength of Priyansh Arya's stormy century. In response, Chennai's team could only score 201 runs for 5 wickets.
