New Delhi. Former captain of Pakistan cricket team Babar Azam is not going well. Runs are not coming from the bat and such news related to Pakistan Super League has come out which created panic. Babur is currently captain for Peshawar Jalmi franchise in the PSL 2025 season. He played for Karachi Kings from 2017 to 2022. After playing six seasons, the Kings decided to leave Babur, the team owner has made a big disclosure about it.
In an interview recently, Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal made a big disclosure about Babar Azam. He told why the franchise had released Babur before the PSL 2023 season. Salman said that the franchise decided to leave Babar Azam due to disagreement in batting order. Iqbal said that the franchise wanted Babur to bat at number three but he was not ready to leave his opening position. Salman Iqbal said, “We wanted him to bat at number three, but he was not ready to change his role.”
Babar Azam has spent most of his career as an opener for Pakistan in PSL and international cricket. His recent performance is constantly being questioned. He performed very poorly in the Domestic ODI Tri -series and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this year. As a result, the team was eliminated from the first round of the tournament.
In the current season of PSL, Babar Azam's bat has not been run. Peshawar Jalmi has scored just one run in two innings as an opener. It is worth noting that Babur played an important role in the Karachi Kings' PSL winning campaign in 2020. He had scored 473 runs in 11 innings in that tournament and scored the match in the final.
