The aggressive wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant, after avoiding the dangerous car accident, acknowledged Ashish Nehra's guidance and influence on Monday, saying that the advice of the former Indian fast bowler 'being happy' helped him a lot in difficult times. Pant was a victim of accident on the Delhi-Dehradun road on the night of 30 December 2022.

Pant said during the 'Interactive Session' of CII Eastern Region – 'India@100: Leadership Insight from the Sports Economy', “I had greatly benefited from a advice by Ashish Nehra. He is also the senior of my club. He came to me and looked at me and he told me that I had a lot of injuries. I can do just one thing and that is to keep myself happy. He advised me to keep thinking that makes me happy. ''

Pant further said, “I think this advice was really very useful for me and it helped me to overcome my injury. I have been playing cricket day and night since childhood and it was the most difficult for me to keep myself stable in one place while recovering from injury. My situation was such that I was not able to brush myself. I had to accept that I would not be able to deal with it in a day or two. I kept myself restrained and did not let the negative sentiment dominate in my mind. ,

Pant had to undergo a year tough rehabilitation after surgery. He returned to competitive cricket during the Indian Premier League last year and then made his international comeback in the T20 World Cup in the US. He is currently playing for Lucknow Supergiants and is also captaining for the team.
