In America, a Gujarati father-daughter has been shot and killed. They are said to be residents of Mehsana in Gujarat. The US police has arrested one of the accused in this case.

Ahmedabad: A Gujarati man and her daughter were shot dead in Virginia, USA. The incident has spread to the Gujarati community living in America and Kanoda village of Mehsana. 56 -year -old Pradeep Patel was shot dead on the spot, while his 24 -year -old daughter Urmi died in the hospital two days later. The police have arrested a person in connection with this incident. However, the purpose of the attack is not yet clear.
The family hails from Kanoda in Mehsana, Gujarat. The leader and uncle of Pradeep, Chandu Patel, said that the family got the first information about this terrible attack through media reports. He said, 'As soon as he opened his shop at around 5 am on March 20, a person entered inside and started firing. Both Pradeep and Urmi fired bullets. The accused has been identified as George Fragier Devon Wharton. He has been arrested.
Family's visit to America
Relatives living in Kanoda told that the Patel family went to America on a visitor visa in 2019. Later settled there. He managed the facility stores run by the Gujarati Patel community. Four months ago, he handled the store. Earlier, he was working in another store. Pradeep's brother Ashok Patel said, 'The family has Pradeep's wife, two daughters and a son. Both daughters are married in the families of Gujarat. His son works in Canada. Urmi was married three years ago. He will be cremated in America itself.
Fear of attack
Family members believe that the attacker was hidden near the shop. As soon as the father and daughter reached there, he started firing. A cousin of Pradeep also runs a store nearby.
Increasing attacks on Gujaratis
This incident is another case in the link of increasing attacks on Gujaratis in America. Recently, Manank Patel of Vadodara was shot dead in northern Carolina. The community started a crowdfunding campaign to support his pregnant wife and daughter.
