The ICC said in a release, “The right -handed batsman scored 172 runs in three ODIs at an average of 57.33 and also scored the most runs for India in the tournament. Iyer's contribution to India's unbeatable campaign was important. He scored 79 runs in Group A match against New Zealand and scored 45 runs in the semi -finals against Australia. Apart from this, he also scored 48 runs in the final against New Zealand. ''
