In fact, the US government is planning to import eggs from South Korea and Türkiye amidst the lack of eggs due to bird flu spread across the country.

Millions of chickens have affected and forced farmers to kill them to prevent the spread of the disease. Egg prices have increased by more than 65 percent compared to last year, while US President Donald Trump promised to reduce prices.

When will the situation improve?
Rollins further said, “When the population of our chickens will grow again and we will have a full egg production industry again, hopefully in a few months, we will again depend on our internal egg producers and bring those eggs to the market.” According to a report by news agency AFP, Poultry associations in Poland and Lithuania have said that US authorities have approached them to supply eggs. “In February, the US embassy in Warsaw asked our organization whether Poland would be interested in exporting eggs to the American market,” said Qatarna Gavarska, director of Poland's National Chamber of Poultry and Feed Producers, said whether Poland would be interested in exporting eggs to the US market, “said Qatarna Gavarska said.

In February, the US Department of Agriculture launched a five-part of $ 1 billion to control egg prices. The scheme has been allocated to increase about 500 million dollars of bio -safety, for research and development of about $ 100 million, and $ 400 million to support farmers through financial relief programs.

Researchers are still investigating whether the virus can spread to humans by consuming food or beverages infected with avian influenza. In the United States, most of the 66 cases reported since 2024 are associated with direct contact of infected animals. The virus mainly makes chickens sick and experts suggest that the spread of flu can be prevented by killing infected herds.
