YouTube helped a man to win 10000000: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court ordered Central Railway to deposit Rs 1 crore as interim compensation for the 100 -year -old red sandalwood tree on the land of a farmer. Railways followed the High Court order and deposited the money on 9 April 2025. According to the report of BBC Marathi, the High Court allowed the farmer to withdraw 50 lakh rupees from the amount deposited.
This was a unique case and in this, Kisan took the help of YouTube. YouTube is not only a means of entertainment or earning. But it also educates people. Kisan won a legal battle by recking up the red sandalwood tree on YouTube. Let's know the whole matter.
What was the case of red sandalwood tree?
Keshav Shinde and his five sons from Kharsi village in Yavatmal district filed a petition in the High Court on 7 October 2024. In this petition, he demanded compensation of red sandalwood and other properties affected by land acquisition for Wardha-Yavatmal-Passad-Nanded railway line project.
Shinde has 2.29 hectares of cultivated land in Pusad taluka. A part of this land was acquired by the Central Railway for the railway line and they were compensated for the land. However, Shinde also demanded compensation for red sandalwood trees and other trees such as well.
Railway officials told them that the evaluation of the red sandalwood tree is required. For this, the Forest Department was requested to evaluate.
How did YouTube help the farmer?
Anjana Raut Narvade, a lawyer of the Shinde family, said that the evaluation of the tree can increase the compensation of about Rs 5 crore. A committee of forest department officials and other experts will determine the final value of the tree.
94 -year -old Keshav Shinde and his sons came to know about the red sandalwood tree on their land during the survey conducted by railway officials. Some of these officers were from Andhra Pradesh and identified the tree as red sandalwood and told the family about its high price.
The Shinde family confirmed the identity of the tree using YouTube and consulting experts. He then demanded appropriate compensation through the legal process.
According to Punjab Shinde, one of Keshav Shinde's son and petitioners, there were mango orchards and other fruit trees on his land, for which compensation was given. However, red sandalwood trees and pipelines were not compensated. Since 2014, the Shinde family contacted the District Collector, Forest Department, Railways and Irrigation Department continuously, but no action was taken. After the eight -year fight, the Shinde family moved to the High Court and started a legal battle.
