In order to deal with increasing cases of cyber fraud in the country, the government has taken strict steps and has blocked more than 80000 WhatsApp accounts.

New Delhi. The government continues to attack on cyber fraud and there is no shortage of it. By February this year, more than 780,000 SIM cards, more than 3,000 Skype IDs and more than 83,000 WhatsApp accounts have been blocked. In the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home, Bundi Sanjay Kumar gave this information in response to a written question.

The Minister of State for Home said that till February 28, the officers have blocked more than 781,000 SIM cards associated with cyber fraud. Apart from this, the government has also cut 208,469 IMEI numbers, which were found suspicious by police and other investigating agencies. Each mobile device has a unique IMEI number and these blocked devices were associated with criminal activities.

Strict steps to prevent digital crime
The government is taking tough steps to prevent digital crime. The agency I4C under the Ministry of Home Affairs identified 3,962 Skype IDs and 83,668 WhatsApp accounts and blocked them. The I4C of the Modi government, launched in the year 2021, immediately responds to the incidents of financial fraud.

So far, it has saved Rs 4,389 crore to the people in response to the complaints made 13.36 lakh reports. Apart from this, the government has also created a national helpline number 1930 to help the victims of cyber fraud, where fraud can be made.

For further help to the people, the government has also created a communication partner portal, where people can report spam calls and fraud calls. The Department of Telecommunications started this portal a few years ago and recently one of its apps have been made available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Explain that Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that the 5G rollout of BSNL could start by June this year. Apart from this, BSNL CMD Robert J Ravi gave information about the places where 5G services will be started.
