New Delhi. If you are using the old iPhone, then perhaps the time has come to upgrade you – especially if you depend on WhatsApp. Since 5 May 2025, Whatsapp will stop working on some iPhones that are still running on the old iOS version.

The messaging app says that it will only support the iPhones running on the iOS 15.1 or subsequent versions. This means that if your phone is not updated – or cannot be updated – then you will lose the access of WhatsApp completely.

Which iPhones will be affected?
The devices that will no longer support WhatsApp include:
-iphone 5s
-iphone 6
-iphone 6 plus

Whatsapp Business Users, Note
This change does not only affect regular users. If you are using WhatsApp business on the old iPhone, then you will also have to upgrade your device so that you can continue using these tools.

Why is this happening
Whatsapp says that he regularly reviews its supported device and removes the old device to improve security and make room for new features. The company said in its updated FAQ that devices and software often change and old phones often do not have the necessary functionality for the new version of the app.

What can you do?
If your phone is on this list, then you have to take a new iPhone to continue using WhatsApp. Models like iPhone 8 and iPhone X will still work, but since they too have stopped getting the major updates, it may not be supported for a long time.
