Why do you have to pay two different types of types of a single train. Are special facilities given to passengers in online booking?

Regarding this, the government replied in the Rajya Sabha and said that passengers who book online tickets through IRCTC have to pay the convenous fee and transaction charge, due to which the online ticket buyers have to pay more than the tickets taken from the railway counter.

Government told the reason
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut had asked questions about the difference in IRCTC ticket price, while replying to which Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that IRCTC spends a lot to provide online ticketing facility and the cost that costs and upgrades the ticketing infrastructure is spent in the cost, IRCTC Convenience has taken up to reduce it. Vaishnav said that apart from this, bank transaction charge also has to be paid.

In fact, Raut wanted to know why passengers booking online tickets through IRCTC have to pay more than those who buy tickets at the railway counter. Vaishnav said that IRCTC online ticket booking facility is one of the highest passenger friendly initiatives of Indian Railways. Currently, more than 80 percent of the book tickets are booked online.

He said that the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) provides the facility to book reserved tickets online, due to which passengers have got rid of the problem of going to the reservation counter to book tickets and have also saved the time and transport costs at the time of travel.
